The Summit House Inn, a Colorado Springs B&B providing romantic lodging near Pikes Peak, is a combined dream come true for Carol Harper and John Donlin. Prior to their marriage, they each dreamed of creating a warm and welcoming place for friends and acquaintances to gather.
Carol’s passion for creating a cozy and peaceful retreat is born from her years of national and international business travels and living abroad. The richness of her experiences helps her appreciate the needs and desires of each guest for personal comfort, hospitality, and revitalization.
Carol’s commitment to meeting the needs of others flows naturally from her 17 years as a social worker, a director for a not-for-profit organization, and as a university faculty member. In addition, Carol served as catering manager for the United States government in Europe, where she was responsible for planning receptions, meals, and special events for high-level military officers and foreign dignitaries.
John’s naturally welcoming personality, warmth, and commitment to “doing what’s right” has served him and those whom he meets well. A retired military officer and a director in a major software company, he is skilled in assessing needs and creating appropriate solutions.
John’s passion for a restful retreat and Colorado vacation spot contributed to the relaxed environment of The Summit House Inn. To John’s delight, the Inn is filled with quiet and cozy corners for reading (and napping), music, and quiet reflection. John is glad to share his beautifully handcrafted Petrof baby grand piano. Access to the newest technology is another high priority John brings to the Inn. John and Carol’s joint commitment to quality and service will make your stay a special and memorable experience.
